How To See In The Spirit?

5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you; Job 42:5 ESV

I truly believe that most Holy Spirit filled Christians have the ability to see in the spirit. It came naturally to my wife, but something I had to learn. Most guides stop after some information and a prayer, I will go over the information then I will give 4 methods to practice seeing in the spirit.

What is Spiritual Sight?

11 And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
Matthew 13:11 ESV

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.
Matthew 13:16 ESV

Spiritual sight is the ability to discern spiritual entities in the spiritual realm. Understanding how to do this and being aware of what is going on only brings us into further maturity.

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV

Even Christians can be natural people, spiritual discernment helps a believer understand the allegorical interpretations that the Holy Spirit will lead a person to. A Christian needs to be spiritual in order to receive the "meat" of the Bible. Seeing in the spirit helps the person shift from a natural mindset into a spiritual one.

DO NOT PRACTICE IF YOU ARE NOT A BELIEVER IN JESUS

Spiritual gifts are spiritual, they operate through a spirit. If you have not chosen Jesus and the Holy Spirit you are opening yourself to malevolent spirits. And please do not make seeing in the spirit an idol that your put before your relationship with Jesus.

Do Not Look At Pornography

22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,
23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Matthew 6:22–23 ESV

I would highly advise to expel any pornography out of your life, this will make your eye unhealthy, hindering your ability to see in the spirit. The spiritual realm doesn't have the sun, so it is dark. You see further in the spirit the more light you are.

Practice Seeing In The Spirit

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
Hebrews 5:14 ESV

It’s important to train our spiritual gifts, especially discernment of spirits. This verse indicates that the solid food, the meat, is for those that have practiced and can discern the spirits of good and evil.

Ask God To Help You See In The Spirit

We will say a prayer because I do think it is important, but below are the practical steps on how to actually practice seeing in the spirit. Here is the prayer that you should say and believe not being double minded:

Jesus, you have said "Ask and you shall receive". I'm asking that you and the Holy Spirit help and teach me how to see in the spirit. I want to see in the spirit to help my family and to help your church. With this gift I want to help others and lead people to you. I ask that you remove any scales from my eyes and destroy and spirits that are preventing me from seeing and discerning the spirits. Cleanse my eyes and consecrate them Thank you for your grace and the wonderful gifts you give.

How Do We Practice Seeing In The Spirit?

It's going to start off weird and you will think you are making things up. You will most likely feel this way until you are validated either by another person seeing the same thing as you. When practicing these steps it really helps to do this in a group or with someone you know who can see in the spirit. It can be done on your own, but it won't be as quick. When my wife and I sense a spirit, we usually turn and look at each other at the same time and will know if it is malevolent or benevolent, see the same characteristics, and know where it is.

Learning how to meditate on the Word, how to see visions, and how to interpret dreams are good prerequisites that can make practicing the next steps easier.

Method 1

First we start by seeing these entities in your mind before seeing them with your eyes. Ideally this works best with more than one person to help validate what you are seeing. I would advise to follow every small inclination you have regardless of if you think you are making it up or it's from the spirit.

Relax
- Sit down block out as many physical senses you can and focus on God
Close your eyes and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where something is in the room.
- I usually close my eyes and picture the room, then I will sense a presence in an area of the room.
- If you feel you aren't seeing anything I felt like praying in tongues helped.
Once you are pretty sure you know where the entity is ask the Holy Spirit to show you what it looks like in your mind.
- Let the Holy Spirit guide your imagination until you are confident in what the entity is.
- I also felt like praying in tongues helped here.
Write down what you saw an where you saw it
Compare where you saw entities with others.
- If the location was the same then move to the next step. If the location was different ask the Holy Spirit to show you what they saw.

Method 2 (What do entities in the Spiritual Realm look like?)

It is helpful to know what different entites look like based on descriptions from the Bible.

With your eyes closed ask the Holy Spirit to show you what this scene from the Bible looks like in your mind

Method 3 (Drawing spirits)

Once you have practiced the first method I think it is helpful to walk around with a notebook and draw (even if you are terrible at drawing) what you see in the spirit. When I first started, I brought my notebook to church one Sunday morning and drew the things I saw in the spirit. I felt like it might have just been my imagination until a few months later one of the seers in our church was describing what she sees in the church and it lined up with what I had drawn months before.

Method 4 (Seeing with your physical eyes)

After you feel comfortable finding entities and seeing them in your mind you can try seeing them with your physical eyes. In my experience this helps if you are in a dark room and if I am a little tired. This is very advanced and incredibly hard to teach so do not feel discouraged if you never see spiritual entities with your physical eyes.

Relax
- Sit down block out as many physical senses you can and focus on God
Look at the location the entity is.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
Imagine seeing the entity in your physical room with your physical eyes open.
